✪ Description: The octopus on this piece is handcrafted from polymer clay and painted to resemble the species Blue Ringed Octopus (Hapalochlaena lunulata). The octopus cosily tucked inside the vintage tea cup, using it as a little home. The meticulously painted blue rings on this octopus light up vibrantly under blacklight, as do some parts of the corals.
Outside this little den we find many, many hand beaded corals and reef growths. They are made from a mixture of materials; primarily Miyuki rocailles and a small amount of 24k Gold plated Miyuki Delica's, mixed in with different other brands (e.g. Preciosa Ornela) depending on the colors and properties I was looking for. The whole is complemented with several shapes, colors and styles of paillettes (sequins). All beads and pailettes are hand strung on silver wire.
