Artist Bio

European, Netherlands born and based artist Sahasa primarily works with sculpture and draws inspiration from the natural world, with a particular focus on ocean and coral reef ecosystems.

Finding an exact starting point in Sahasa's creative journey may be a challenge, as they were crafting, creating, drawing and writing from a very early age.

Sahasa began exploring sculptural and transparent resin encapsulation techniques in 2014, and this method of creation quickly became a favorite. Something about the physical, tangible presence of sculptural work and the challenge of a multiple dimensional compositional puzzle captivated and motivated Sahasa to grow their skill.

Their interest in octopuses began mid-2017, and since then, they have continued to explore and expand upon this theme, creating lifelike representations of various species.

Using a combination of vintage and new materials across a diverse range of media, Sahasa's work captures the explosion of vibrant color and incredible diversity of life found in these environments, with a special fascination for octopuses, a keystone reef species.

Since they made their artwork available to a wider audience in 2014, Sahasa has shared 500+ artworks with Collectors around the world, demonstrating appeal to a wide audience.

Sahasa continues to explore techniques and materials, creating work for ongoing collections and new projects.
